Launched in 2017, the A380 Business Class seat for Singapore Airlines was the world’s first to use a unique technology, developed and patented by JPA, which offers a revolutionary approach to the construction of aircraft seating.
Arranged in a forward-facing, four-abreast configuration that offers all customers direct access to the aisle, the new seats feature a larger, wrap around shell to enhance passenger privacy. Centre row seats feature a middle divider that can now be fully lowered to form a double bed, making these seats an ideal choice for couples or families travelling together.
The seat’s unique design allows the cabin layout to feature two extra rows of seating, increasing airline revenue with no compromise on the premium customer experience.
The incorporation of a ‘Monocoque,’ that uses a carbon fibre composite moulding as the primary support structure, eliminates the need for the traditional metallic support frame. This dramatically simplifies the seat structure, reducing weight, streamlining construction and allowing customers to enjoy a more open cabin with greater individual storage personal space.
The cabin provides outstanding levels of comfort and privacy for all customers whilst also facilitating the cabin crew to deliver a personalised and effortless level of service to complete the luxury experience.
