JPA Design worked with Hawaiian Airlines to showcase Hawaiian hospitality and define a new style of passenger experience carefully tailored to the airline’s unique ‘premium leisure’ market positioning.
Cabin designs were inspired by the best of private aviation, with smaller spaces demonstrating luxurious interiors and an authentic connection to the culture, aesthetics and traditions of Hawaii.
Bespoke partitions and light features were designed to create a boutique First Class experience offering a sophisticated and private ambience.
The links to Hawaiian culture continue into the Extra Comfort and Economy class seats with fabrics featuring details inspired by the designs seen on indigenous textiles from the region.
The stitch lines on the seat and the leather panels provide continuity with the First Class designs.
The attention to design extends to customised signage for the toilets that reference iconic Hawaiian floral prints and a bespoke lighting sequence that translates the colours of a Hawaiian sunrise and sunset – details that highlight unique shared experiences for all customers onboard.
JPA carefully optimised the form and function of the seating and cabin furniture and sought to capture the beauty and culture of the Hawaiian Islands in the finishes that were designed specifically for this project. Each element of the material palette, the dynamic lighting schemes and even the use of sound on board, provides an authentic reference to the story of Hawaii.
As part of an enhanced customer welcome during boarding, utility areas such as galleys were hidden behind curtains featuring a bespoke design to complement the surrounding cabin finishes.
