The aim of this concept design project was to reimagine an economy seat platform into three unique visual languages whilst also offering elements of customisation. This approach allows airlines to select and customise a base that suits their brand whilst improving time to market for new product launches.
Inspiration for the concepts was drawn from sources ranging from Italian design to the world of sport, providing distinctive directions suited to a range of customer profiles.
A range of materials and finishes help to bring each concept to life. Premium sophistication is conveyed by the use of embossed leather seat covers incorporating detailed accent stitching and edge piping inspired by fashion suiting. In contrast to this, the rugged design language of the athletic concept featuring recycled plastics, raw textures and welded seams signify a solid and well protected product.
Hidden accent colours and playful reveals aim to appeal to the free-spirited charm of next generation customers whilst always aiming to ensure the seat meets its primary aim of comfort.
All concepts place an emphasis on the use of personal electronic devices with features such as dedicated device holders, USB-C power ports and wireless charging all encouraging users to use their mobile devices with the seat for an integrated experience.
