JPA were entrusted with the full interior design definition of the Maradiva Mauritius, a fabulous resort and spa occupying an extraordinary stretch of coast on this most beautiful and mysterious tropical island. Our remit included all 65 pool villas, 4 F&B outlets and the destination spa.
Inspired by the colonial plantation houses and lush tropical gardens of the area’s past, the designs also feature contemporary furniture and lighting, artifacts, antiques and local art in beautifully eclectic interiors enriched by dark oak, rattan, cane, native basalt, bespoke rugs and colour-infused upholstery.
The warm interior palettes are evocative of sunsets while externally cooler tones reference the surrounding ocean and gardens. Feature walls are rendered with plaster blended with bagasse – a fibre obtained from crushing sugar cane – to provide a tactile surface.
